SITE INFORMATION

Privacy & data.

What this local preview collects, what other visitors can see, and what still needs to be settled before the site opens to the public.

Local-preview notice, not the final public privacy policy. The site operator's legal name and contact details, the lawful bases for each use of data, a final retention schedule, and any overseas-transfer details must be completed and reviewed before public registration is opened.

What we collect

When you create an account, we store your display name and email address. Email/password sign-in also stores a password hash. If you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your name, email address and a unique Google account identifier so we can recognise your account; Music Hub does not receive your Google password or access to your Gmail. You may add an avatar. When you upload a song, we store the audio file and the details you publish, including its title, artist credit, artwork, genre, style and lyrics. Embedded information from the audio file may fill those boxes for you to review before publication.

We also store your favourites, play events, public comments you post, and reports you submit. Comment reports are kept in the local admin area. For guest play counting, the current local version stores a hash derived from the visitor's network address rather than the address itself. A sign-in session cookie keeps members signed in for up to 30 days.

What other visitors see

Your display name, avatar, published songs and their details, creator profile, song play counts and any comments you post are visible to people using the site. Your email address and password hash are not shown on public song or profile pages. Do not put private information into public artist names, lyrics, artwork, song descriptions or comments.

Why we use it

Account details support sign-in and your personal music space. Song files and details let us show and play your uploads. Favourites and play events support your collection, creator statistics and charts. Comments let members discuss songs. Reports help the site owner review problems with songs or comments. The specific UK data-protection lawful bases for these purposes still need to be documented before launch.

Listening insights

This local preview now records whether a listening session finished, switched to another song, or ended when the page was left. It also records approximate listening time, the furthest point reached, a broad mobile/desktop category, and whether the song started automatically or was replayed. Signed-in sessions can be linked to your account; guest sessions have no account ID. Creators see combined results for their own songs, and the site owner can see combined site-wide results. These measurements are separate from public play counts and may miss some tab closures. A retention period for the underlying session records must be decided before public launch.

Reports and Discord

When you report a song, the report is saved in the local database. The song details, reason, your display name and anything you write in the report are also sent to a private Discord moderation room if the connection is working. The uploader does not see who sent the report through this site. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in a report. Discord's processing and any international-transfer arrangements must be reviewed for the public version.

Cookies and storage

This preview uses an essential sign-in cookie. It does not currently set advertising or analytics cookies. The database, uploaded audio, artwork and avatars are stored on the site owner's computer, not on a paid web host. Hosting and storage arrangements will change if we launch publicly, and this notice must be updated before then.

How long information stays

You can remove an uploaded song from public view and restore it later from My space. Removal hides it from listeners but keeps its file, details and play history in this local preview. You can remove your own comments from public view; a copy may remain in local moderation records if a comment was reported. Account information, favourites, play events, reports and removed-song data otherwise remain until the site owner deletes them manually. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. Before a public launch, we must set a clear retention schedule and provide a way to request access, correction or permanent deletion.

Your choices and questions

You can choose not to create an account, add an avatar, upload music or post comments. An account is needed to publish songs, save favourites, comment and send reports in this preview. The operator's public contact method and the full process for privacy requests are still to be added. UK residents can also learn about their rights from the Information Commissioner's Office.
